E5 Sign o the Times + The Black Album, by Prince

Prince is feelin' like a man possessed.

December 8, 1987, Prince's 16th studio album was about to debut. The album, a return-to-form funk bible dubbed "The Black Album" was just a week from release. Almost inexplicably, record stores received the order to recall the album--all 500,000 copies of it. For nearly seven years, the world was in the dark on what happened to this legendary lost record. But what really happened in the making of The Black Album, and how does it tie back to Prince's 9th album, "Sign o the Times?"

Blunderphonics is a semi-weekly show by Jack Derbak and Spencer Foust, diving into music's most-troubled productions. Intro/outro by Jack Derbak, logo by Spencer Foust.
